Book Matthew! He is amazing! Weeks before our wedding, the officiant we had planned to use was in an accident and was not able to attend, let alone officiate, our wedding. I reached out to Matthew via his website and minutes later he called me to see what he could do. That first phone call led to another with the three of us, and then two in-person meetings, with Matthew going out of his way to find a location and time that would work for us. He provided us with so much more than just a beautiful ceremony; he acted as the DJ, with a song list that was perfect for our group, and played it on his own sound system, and acted as the emcee to keep the party flowing smoothly. He is great at what he does, and is such a caring and personable individual, that by the day of our ceremony, it felt as though we had known him much longer than 3 weeks. The ceremony that he created was touching, reflected us as a couple, and was able to draw the audience in so that they were really involved in the ceremony, not just watching it. It was evident that he took the time to create a personal ceremony for us, not just something with our names inserted in the right places, as others might do. The ceremony he created really resonated with everyone in attendance and I heard nothing but praise from our guests, many of whom said they had never been to such a touching ceremony before. We wanted a casual wedding, without many of the frills that seem to accommodate other weddings, like bridesmaids and groomsmen, first dances and the like, and Matthew was able to listen to what we wanted and created a simply amazing ceremony. We knew right off the bat we wanted to work with Matthew after talking on the phone. He showed up at all the crazy events we asked him to attend. He got to know us as well as the wedding party. We wanted to establish a closer relationship than just our officiant/DJ. He gave his input and helped us plan the wedding too. He even did our song list because we failed to give him anything. We wanted a fun, non traditional, party feel wedding and that's what we got.
Officiating:
He coordinated how everyone would enter and exit. It was different and sweet. He did our wedding out in the rain because we really wanted the full Seattle experience even though we knew he and the venue truly wanted it inside. His vows wowed our guests. No one ever remembers or pays attention during the ceremony, but the guests raved about the uniqueness. We wanted short and sweet and our ceremony was less than 15 minutes. We joked about doing a piggy back ride send off, but he said we should do it. We did and it was everyone's favorite part!
DJ:
He provided his own equipment and set up. He was a lot of fun and the guests enjoyed his banter. He did all the music for us. He had things for each age group, genre, etc. He also took requests. He danced as well! Again, people usually don't pay attention to the DJ, but he kept everyone entertained and they loved him. People still talk about him.
We were told by so many of our guests that our wedding was the best wedding they've ever attended and Matthew had a big role in that. He was fun, easy going, organized, and entertaining. He can do it all!
